• Do not instant-drop until you have decided. Space is for speed once you are sure — used early it is just a faster way to make the same mistake.
• Chains resolve upward, so a merge that leaves a matching pair directly above it will fire again for free. Look one row up before committing.
• When the stack gets high, stop chasing the big number and clear low values. Surviving one more minute beats a doubling you cannot follow up.
